A premium mooncake packaging design for The Grand, translating the Mid-Autumn lantern tradition into a layered unboxing experience through light, shadow, and refined material detailing.

The packaging concept draws inspiration from the collective memory of lanterns during the Mid-Autumn Festival, reinterpreting this ritual as an intimate unboxing experience. A two-tier box structure enclosed by an illustrated outer sleeve evokes the atmosphere of a full-moon night. As the package is opened, light passes through the sleeve to cast subtle shadows, echoing the warmth and togetherness associated with the festival. The design emphasises emotional resonance through form and interaction, allowing the act of unboxing to become part of the storytelling rather than a purely decorative gesture.

Minimal linear illustrations were applied to the inner box and finished with hot-stamped gold, creating a tone-on-tone effect that enhances depth and refinement. This restrained approach balances festive sentiment with a contemporary, premium aesthetic, aligning craftsmanship, material choice, and cultural narrative.
